He drove down the driveway in his battered red pickup a bit past five yesterday afternoon.  His pickup doesn't have air conditioning and the fan is broken mostly.  It works randomly about 3% of the time.  Yesterday was not one of the 3%  He drove 80 miles in 98 degree blazing sunshine with just the open window to keep him from melting.  It didn't work too well.  He had a big smile when he hugged me at the gate but the back of his T-shirt was all wet.

He has been helping his dad by clearing stuff out of his dad's barn.  He's loaded his pickup six times and taken stuff to the dump, or the recycling or the thrift store.  He's doing that so his sister, Gail, can move in with her father.  She can store her extra stuff out in the barn.  It's been a lot of hard work but he's finished with the barn part.  He'll help Gail move, which has to be by the end of the month when her lease is up, but right now he's earned some pampering.
